Restart your iPhone

The first thing we have tried is to restart your iPhone.

Try restarting it normally by clicking and holding the Side button and Volume Up/Down button on the iPhone 13, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 11, iPhone X, and later models (hold the Side/Top button on the iPhone SE/iPhone 8 and older models). If your touchscreen is a little bite responsive enough to swipe the Power slider off, swipe it. After that, hold the Top button or Side button until it boots up again.

Obviously, you may find that your touchscreen is so unresponsive that you can not even shut your iPhone down usually. In that case, try a force restart.

For the iPhone8 and later models, including the iPhone SE, simultaneously press and quickly release the Volume Up button, or press and quickly release the Volume Down button, and after that, hold the Side button till the Apple logo does not appear. For the iPhone7 and 7+, press and hold the Side button and Volume Down button together until the Apple logo appears.

Check your Screen Guard (Glass Guard) -iPhone 13

Screen protectors are usually vital these days, but in some instances, they may be the reason why your iPhone touchscreen is not working. So, you should check to see whether your screen protector has been appropriately applied on your iPhone’s touchscreen. Suppose it has not; try reapplying and removing it or reapplying a new protector if you have one available.

If your screen protector has not applied correctly, try removing it. It may be the reason that, for whatever reason, it has been interfering with how your touchscreen operates. If your iPhone’s touchscreen starts working properly after removing it, you need to consider either buying a new one or forgoing a screen protector.

Updating iPhone

Suppose you have tried the two steps above, and your iPhone touchscreen is still not responding. It would help if you next tried to update your iPhone by connecting it to your computer. You would not be able to update it usually (because of an unresponsive touchscreen), and you will have to put it into Recovery Mode.

Here is what you do:

Step 1: Connect your device to your system. If you are running Windows (on a PC) — launch iTunes.

Step 2: If you have an iPhone8 or later, press and quickly release the Volume Up button, press and quickly release the Volume Down button, and then press the Side button until the Recovery Mode screen does not appear. For the iPhone7 or 7 Plus, hold the Top/Side button and Volume Down button together until the Recover Mode screen appears. For the iPhone 6S or older, press and hold the Home button and the Top/Side button at the same time.

Step 3: A recovery window will appear on your PC, giving you the option to Update or Restore your iPhone. Click Update.

Factory reset iPhone 13

Updating your iPhone can resolve any software-related issues that may be causing your iPhone’s touchscreen to freeze. However, if it still does not work, it may possibly be worth performing a factory reset on your iPhone device.

If your iPhone’s touchscreen is completely not responsive, you would not be able to back it up before performing a factory reset. Neither getting backup via a computer or via the iPhone itself will be possible since even connecting it as normal to a computer need to tap Trust on your iPhone.

Otherwise, you may still want to go ahead and start a factory reset without an up-to-date backup. To do this, follow the 3 steps outlined in the section above, but in this case, and then click Restore at the end of the process rather than Update.
