As you Windows 11 is now releasing on 5th October 2021. So, most people find some difficulty while installing Windows 11 on their PCs. This article tells you the simplest way to install Windows 11 through IOS files. So, If you are looking at “How to Download and Install Windows 11 From an ISO File,” then you are in right place. It gives the flexibility to install the Operating System anywhere you like—a dual-boot system, dedicated PC, or a virtual machine. Now Microsoft has finally released an ISO file for Windows 11, you can download and store it, so it’s readily accessible. Here’s how.

If you find trouble installing or running Windows 11, ensure that Microsoft’s system requirements are gone up. You now require a TPM chip installed in your computer to run the new OS, which may be require you to dig into your PC’s BIOS to turn it on.

Download the ISO File

Now, here is your next step is to download the actual ISO file. You have to Browse the Windows Insider Preview Downloads page and Login with the Microsoft account you used. Scroll down to the Select edition section and select. Click the drop-down menu to Select edition

Now, you have to choose either the Windows 11 Insider Preview (Dev Channel) or the Windows11 Insider Preview (Beta Channel). The Dev channel contains the new features and updates for Windows 11 but may be more unstable. The Beta channel includes features and updates that have already been polished by Microsoft and are more stable.

If you are planning to test Windows 11, get the new features, and do not mind a few bugs, the DevChannel is the way to go. On the other hand, the Beta channel may be more appropriate. (If you wish to try out both so, you can download the two different copies of the ISO file, one for the DevChannel and another for the Beta channel.) Now, select the channel you want and then tap to Confirm.

Then, select the language and then click Confirm. Click on the Download button to build and language you chose and save the file to your PC. Once the file downloading is complete, you can then work with the ISO file a few different ways.

Method 1: Set Up a Virtual Machine to Install Windows 11

I have tried two free VM products with Windows 11, including VMware Workstation Player and Oracle VM VirtualBox. VMware Workstation accepted with no trouble in the Windows 11 Preview edition; Oracle VM VirtualBox had some hiccups, though I could get it to work with some tweaking. If you plan to install Windows 11 on a virtual machine, you can use the ISO file directly. For that reason, you will probably have a more effortless out-of-box experience using VMware Workstation Player.

When your virtual machine is created, VMware Workstation Player asks about the location and the name of your installer disc image file. Now browse and select your downloaded Windows 11 ISO file. Click Next and then follow the below steps to set up the VM and install Windows 11.

Method 2: Install the File Directly

If you want to install directly Windows 11 onto your current system from the ISO file, you first require to mount the file to access the setup command. Open the File Explorer in Windows 10 or 8.1, then right click on the Windows11 ISO file and then select Mount from the pop-up menu.

Sometimes a built-in Mount command is disabled by a third-part program, so it doesn’t appear in the menu. In that event, you will have to reset your default program to revive the command. In current Windows 10, go to the Settings> Apps> Default Apps and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Click on the Set defaults by app link. From the given list of apps, click on the Windows Disc Image Burner and then click on Manage.

Go back to your file Explorer and then right-click the ISO file again. The Mount command will appear in the menu. The virtual drive will be open by running the Mount command that is visible into the File Explorer sidebar; from that, you can install this software. And this drive can contain the setup.exe file.

Double-click that file to install Windows 11. When you are done, right-click on a virtual drive and select and click the Eject command. That can remove the virtual drive, though your ISO file remains intact. Select and Click on the current default app for .iso and change it to the Windows Explorer.

Method 3: Burn the ISO File to a Disc or USB Drive (Install Windows 11)

Another 3rd method is to burn the ISO file in a disc to install Windows 11 on any PC. The Windows 11 ISO file is more than 5GB in size, so that will not fit on a standard DVD. Instead, you did have to use a double-layer / dual-layer (DL) DVD, which can store up to 8.5GB of data. The other option is to use a Blu-ray disc if the Blu-ray drive is equipped on your PC. Make sure that your drive supports these types of discs.

Insert a blank Blu-ray disc or DVD (DL) in your system disc drive. Now Open the File Explorer and then right-click on the ISO file. On the pop-up menu, select and click on the Burn disc image command. The Windows Disc Image Burner tool now pops up, and it should point to your Blu-ray or DVD drive. Click Burn.

Depending on your installation settings, you can automatically install your program from the disc by placing it in a PC drive or by double-clicking on the setup file on the disc as shown in File Explorer.

Another effective way to burn the ISO into a disc or copy it to a USB is through a Windows USB/DVD Download Tool, its free Microsoft tool. This program can copy the contents of the ISO file to a disc or USB drive, which then becomes bootable. This method is also helpful if you wish to install Windows 11 on a System or as part of a dual-boot setup. Microsoft is no longer offers this utility on their website, but you can still get it from the other sites, like Major Geeks and FileHippo.

After you download the Windows 7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool-Installer.exe file, right-click on it and choose the Run as Administrator option. Click Next, then choose either a DVD or a USB device. Launch the tool once the installation is done, browse to and choose the ISO file you wish to burn or copy.

If you opt for USB, the following screen asks you to insert the USB drive. Click on the Begin copying to copy the file onto the drive.

If your USB drive contains data, then it will be erased. Now, click on the Erase USB Drive to make room for the Windows files. After the files are copied, the tool will tell you that it successfully created a Bootable USB device. Now use your USB device to install the program.

If you choose a DVD, Blu-ray disc, or insert a blank dual-layer/double-layer DVD into your drive, click Begin burning. This tool will inform you once the DVD has been successfully burned. You can now use your bootable DVD to install the program.
