Ghost Recon Frontline has canceled before it began.

Ghost Recon Frontline was a Tom Clancy game that many Tom Clancy fans were eager to see. However, the game has been cancelled. The battle royale shooter, originally scheduled to launch in 2022 on all modern consoles and computers, will now be cancelled.

Why was Ghost Recon Frontline canceled?

Ubisoft claims that cancellations were due to Ubisoft’s changing financial situation. Although this doesn’t explain everything, it is possible to make an educated guess. The closed multiplayer beta for was delayed indefinitely just after its announcement. Ubisoft stated only that the delay was necessary to provide the best experience.

This delay could be explained if we dig deeper. The announcement video for Ghost Recon Frontline received very negative reactions from the general public. Although YouTube dislikes were removed from public view a month later, there is still a lot of hatred for the project in the original comments sections. Maybe it wasn’t worth the effort to reinvent the game enough for people to enjoy it. Ubisoft may prefer to spend those resources on other projects, such as Avatar Frontiers of Pandora.

Ghost Recon and Ubisoft past controversy 

Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon franchise is not the only controversy. Two months after Ghost Recon Frontline was announced, Ubisoft Quartz was released by the publisher. This NFT platform was originally launched with Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

This caused quite a stir among Ghost Recon members. Ubisoft Quartz was never officially demolished despite the backlash. Ghost Recon Breakpoint support was discontinued four months after Ubisoft Quartz’s introduction. The much-discussed NFT integration has never been used in any other games. This situation could have played a part in trying to convert audience expectations.
